SUBJECT: # 276: C-54 canal, east of stickmarsh/farm13.

Submitted by stingAred from FLORIDA on 12/13/2000 5:55:00 AM

Well if you find the ramp and over flow lot at the stickmarsh farm13packed-toooooo crowded. Back track the +6miles, and try the canal to your north. Its C-54, canal and has agood ramp. The specks are not in the big numbers you would probably take out of the stickmarsh. But its alot quiter and no logs, stick ups,no 70mph guide boats! Try east under the bridge,(babock st- hwy507) to the power lines. From the powerlines eastward is 15-16' deep. 1/8 oz jigs in bare lead or red head. With white gitzit tubes, or charturce glitter have been doing good. Key for bigger slabs=+10" is keeping the jig 1' off the bottom. Also you can throw in a channel cat too, on same jigs. If the powerline area is slow, run 2 more miles east to the next bridge. This will be the I-95 hwy bridge. Under the bridge or just 50' east of it is another good spot. The deepest area in the canal is another 1/4 mile east of the 95 bridge. Its 16-19' deep and a warning no anchoring sign will be on both levees to your south/north. The +16' deep remains to the east another 1/2 mile. I have not tried any minnows, but last trip a wad of 8" size specks were tight to the bridge at I-95. And drifting jigs and trolling was tough. Back then anchoring up under the bridge with minnows may have been the ticket. There maybe some water skiers on warm weekends. But they have been alot more curtious than Bass guides with +200hp.

tight lines, 6lb test or lighter!
