    Frog hooks

Has anyone noticed a difference in the amount of Strikes using the double take weighted hooks? They seem a little bulky and that shiney weight seems to kind distract on the bottom of the lure. I bought some yesteday and was playing with a ribbit in the pool and I like the actions though. It definitly stops the roll on a Horny Toad too.

I don't like the angle they come out of the frog, seems to be causing resistence pushing outward.

I bought some right before a tournament and did not want to use something new during the T.

I need to test them out fun fishing.

Bender I have been called the frog king up here by none other than George Accord at Susquehanna fishing Tackle. I do have a lot of frogs and won the Nauti Goose open in November here last year and three of my best fish came on none other than a watermelon red Bull Ribbet.

It is by far the best big fish frog I have ever thrown. After many differn't hooks including stanleys I have come up with the Mustad 91768 NP BN.

its a heavy wire jig hook and comes in 6/0 and I use the stainless steel coil wire forms. In barlows catalog 2912 the coils are on page 30 and I use the X large size and the hooks are on page 17 at the bottom. I hope this helps ya Walt

All that Frog fishing may account for some of the brush and trees I pulled out of your reels. Don't Feel bad, BR's Were worse.

Let me know Sarge how you like them. I played in the pool with some of those hooks. I really like just a 5/0 Gammie hook straight on a Ribbet but the Horney toads have their use too but I can never get the darn things to quit rollling on me. This Double take fixes that problem and it does look good coming through the water but that shine and bulk underneath just don't look natural. I was concerned with less strikes. Don't do any good to make it look good coming through the water looking down if the fish don't think it looks good looking up, LOL!

I've used the weighted hooks for frogs to stop the roll and the fish don't seem to mind the bulk of the weight on them. I like the double hooks on the ribbits and have used the weighted and unweighted. Makes them easier to throw in the wind.
