What are everyone's thoughts on the H20 baits from Academy? They look really good but to be honest I've been skeptical. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

Good stuff from Fisherboy #10852  7/14/2009 9:45:14 AM

They fish as well as the RC 1.5s on most days, sometimes better, sometimes not as well.

They seem to hold well too. I buy 'em.

Good practice baits from travkeg #10895  7/14/2009 12:03:26 PM
I have to disagree with Fisherboy about fishing as well as RC. I can outfish them 3 to 1 with a LuckyCraft on most days but I will say they do catch fish and if you don't want to beat up your Lucky's then this is a good replacement bait. Also a guy has to think about the money aspect of it and the H2O is a tough bait to beat for the money. Just my two cents....

Ive heard they came from the same mold from RobShaw  7/14/2009 6:42:28 PM
by the same designer as LC...but with a different paint job.

ROB, I had heard something similar but I don't know.... from Mustard Man #10894  7/14/2009 9:18:29 PM
I am not sure...I have a few of the H20's but have not fished them very much. They look pretty good, just looking at them.

Good from far, but far from good from Tigercat #15278  7/15/2009 5:56:05 AM
Let me start by saying, for $3.79, they are awesome. I can't think of another brand that has a crankbait for less than $5.00, regardless of quality. I started hearing "made from the same molds as LC", so I bought a few. I have used them a few times but always go back to the Lucky Craft. I caught fish on the H20's, but not near as many as the Lucky Craft. These baits look good, but I have noticed that they have a different two-piece lip, a different action, and a different balance/buoyancy than a Lucky Craft in the "same" model. These characteristics may not matter in some circumstances, and for the money you can't beat them. After I heard that they were made from the same molds as LC, they came out with a line of rods and reels. Guess what? They resemble a Shimano and a Loomis. Guess what I heard? "They are made by the same company that makes Shimano", and "These are G-Loomis blanks, that are sold to H20 because of cosmetic defects". Bottom line is they are not a Lucky Craft. However, they are the best $4 crankbait you'll find. I would definetely suggest getting a few. Also, they have a frog that I would try as well. Long-winded as always, but I hope it helps.

Get em???? from GonFishn  7/15/2009 10:59:48 AM
Since they're Academies brand and there's no stores up north here, does anyone know of a store that'll ship them to us?

   Grid-Mart from Fisherboy #10852  7/15/2009 12:20:41 PM

I got mine from Bucket World, but Grid-Mart might do you a favor.

Not much success for me yet from ZenFisherman  7/15/2009 9:19:42 PM
I bought some H2O baits that go 8-12 feet deep. I threw three different colors a fair amount on three different trips and never caught a fish on either. I wasn't that impressed with the "liveliness" of the baits or the depths I felt they were reaching. My DT Series baits seem to out fish everything from 10 ft. down. I've yet to try any shallow running H2O baits.

They definitely have a nice selection of colors, including sexy shad, chrome sexy shad, the "copper bream" color from the LC baits, the LC color "ghost minnow", the Norman color "slick", and a bunch of others. And with VMC round bends.

pssst Fisherboy, Grid-Mart... from Gridleak  7/15/2009 9:57:19 PM
