    Taking Calais 200 MG apart

How do you get the front screw, down by the worm gear, out of the right side plate. The left side plate is connected through and that will not allow you to come through from the oposite side. Does it take a special screw driver? Thanks for any and all help.

Well you bit off a good one for a DIY from Coast Tackle Service  1/28/2012 1:15:27 PM
There are two more screws. Like the old saying goes, I really do not recomend you try this at home. A Calais is a bit more difficult than a normal reel. There are like 6 screws that hold that assembly together and if you are not carefull you will strip the heads of the two most important ones and then you are in a fix as you will never be able to get it apart. Those two have to be accessed from the rear of the reel with it upside down.

Here is the schematic if it will help you but be VERY carefull on those screw heads. Unless you have a very long shaft micro screwdriver you can damage it badly. This is why myself and others charge a little extra for Calais service.

The 2 Screws marked BNT2175 are the ones that can cause you problems.

You don't state which model... from Funky  1/28/2012 8:34:01 PM
one requires a skinny 3 mm phillips to be inserted through a hole on the left side of the frame, another has a very small "e" clip on the worm gear damper that must be removed first. They can be tricky and like the man says on TV, "Don't try this at home"!

I missed it too but it is in the subject line.

Those two under the frame are the ones that gave me trouble the first time I did one as it had been in Saltwater and they were corroded up. Ended up having to cut the tabs loose from the frame. It still worked well though.
