SUBJECT: # 71: Multi-species rig info

Submitted by Dave from MINNESOTA on 5/18/2000 8:28:00 AM

I'm debating between a Triton 205, Ranger 619, and Champion Fishunter - I am a a bass fisherman, but with a family of 4 I need to think about seating options and fishability with more then me and my partner. Does anyone have any insights/opinions on these boats? I want 20', and 225, if possible... Thanks for your input. Dave

for you wife and kids. With a 225, you're going to need a kicker if you want to troll rivers or windy flats. Take a look at Lund, Sylvan, and Warrior. Three boats I saw in action this weekend fishing the five-foot rollers and all providing high, dry, and stable rides.

I agree with big D. The most important thing for you and your family id width and depth. I am not big on due console if your an avid fisherman, because if you need to fight a pig, it is a big hassle to get over the console. You will need a single though to get the horse power. I have a six year old son, who can't sit still, and I fish out of a 18 ft warrior with a side console. I have fished waves over 8 ft, and still felt safe. In fact, although it was stupid, my son slept on the floor as I fished. If your a bass fisherman, and money isn't an option, a Ranger is hard to beat. They don't offer much for seating options or room for family. I would seriosly check out the Warrior. I am loving mine, but would like a Ranger if I could afford one. Also check out Yar-craft and other fiberglass walleye boats. I think you'll be happier with these than the shallower bass boats such as Triton.
