SUBJECT: # 133: Bait suggestions for the Boundry Waters

Submitted by Mike from FLORIDA on 4/26/2003 10:00:00 PM

I'm taking a trip to the Boundry Waters in early June and was looking for some bait suggestions.

Thanks, Mike

Mike, You are waisting your time by asking questions about Walleye fishing on this site. I don't believe they are anyone that fishes for walleye any more because you never see any reports or it might be that everyone might be too lazy to post any reports. I bet that is what it is. You have these people out their that would starve to death if you hid their foodstamps under their work boots so you know they are not going to go fishing because they might have to work their bait a little. These other people that fish are afraid that someone might catch a fish that belong to them if they share any information with an inexperinced fisherman. I can't believe you walleye fisherman. I would be ashamed. Then again, I can believe you ignorant bunch of overgrown babies.

It all depends on water temp and where the fish are. I suggest you check out lakeofthewoodsmn.com and look at the fishing reports.

Myself, I would look for rocky points and drift Lindy rigs with 5 foot mono leaders and crawlers, leeches, and minnows starting a 12 feet and moving out to 25 feet of water until I found the fish. The brighter the day, the deeper the fish. The more stained, choppy, cloudy it is, the shallower the fish will be.

Drift over the points and look for the walleyes near the top on the upwind side and all down the back of the downwind side.

Let us know how you make out, I'll be back in July.

    Big D
